Wondering if you have a suggestion for Safeway’s policy of not accepting internet printed coupons if they don’t scan. Just wasted 30 minutes of my life trying to buy this butter, but my coupons wouldn’t scan, waited 10 minutes for manager to be told this was the policy because copied coupons don’t scan, so basically accusing me of fraud. Where best to complain about this in your opinion?
This one is a tougher one. the policy states this,
15. Internet printed coupons must be capable of scanning at checkout.
I argue that this is referring to the coupon actually having a barcode to scan, something scannable, not manually entry only. Some/Many store say this means if it doesnt scan, tough. I JUST spoke with a DM today regarding another issue, and i forgot to bring this up. Here is the problem. 80% of the time a NEW style bar code beeps on the old registers, it scans perfectly fine on the new style registers. Why should a customer lose out because of safeways system, the fact ehy are not all consistent. It just so happens, im assuming, its the other way around for this problem. The store I used the coupons out today was the old register style system, and the coupons scanned perfectly. im assuming you were at a new register style system. So in all fairness, the cashier doesnt think about this kind of thing(nor to most managers). generally this can be handled at the store manager level. Try CS first. then ask to store manager. explain to him these coupons scan perfectly at other stores(becuase of reason above), and your store doesnt, and I was told by a manager i was basically committing fraud, where this was a safeway register problem, can You help me. then at that points if a store manager doesnt help, its an easy DM issue. If you tell me the store, i would be willing to help out on this one. or you can do the above steps. This is just the way I would go about it. 🙂
