Barclays US Airways Mastercard w/35,000 Air Miles

Here is another GOOD Credit Card Deal that has very few hoops to jump through for some easy air miles.

• You’ll need to make one other no minimum purchase some time in the first 6 months
• You’ll need to keep the card open for at least 6 months

So go here, Barclays US Airways Mastercard Sign up page.  Fill everything out, and you will hopefully be accepted! As with all Credit card applications, it does do a credit pull, something to be mindful of that if you are buying a car or house in the next 30 days or so.

My wife and I were both accepted for these, which will be a total of 70,000 points.  I went and looked to see how much a flight from Portland to New York would be, the days available were medium scarce and it seemed like a round trip ticket(non-stop, didn’t check layover flights) to New York, would “cost” about 40,000 points each ticket.  So other places in US will be less points, but that gives you an idea of what to expect.  These points are known for being harder to work with.

BUT The reason I got these cards, is because US Airways and American Airline just merged last week.  And American Airline points are easier to work with.  So I’m hoping that when that merger happens, my points will be worth a little more, and therefore ill be able to get the round trip I want.

As with all Credit Card deals you get, you should never cancel them right away.  So when I get one in the mail and if I don’t plan on actively using it, I write on it with a black marker, a date 9 months out.  When that date comes around, I then think about cancelling it. Again with this card you need to keep it open at least 6 months or you risk losing the Air Miles.

But regardless, its free miles with really very little effort, and you can save them up like I will try, or use them for a quick trip somewhere special!
